Meeting on gas supply to Tver Region held

The town of Ostashkov has hosted a meeting on gas supply to the Tver Region.

Attending the meeting were Mikhail Bershadsky, First Vice-Governor of the Tver Region, Gazprom’s delegation, managers of Promgaz, Rosgazifikatsiya and other companies, and representatives of local municipalities.

Placing a focus on the prospects for the construction of the Torzhok-Kuvshinovo-Ostashkov gas lateral and comprehensive gas supply to the cities, towns and localities adjoining the line route, the meeting pointed to the need of synchronizing the lateral construction with the gas distribution network construction.

The parties drew the municipal heads’ attention to the fact that building a gas branch to a locality should be projected in close conjunction with ensuring efficient gas use by consumers. This can be achieved, among other things, by applying state-of-the-art gas equipment, the installation of which is promptly paid off through the conservation of the gas utilized.

Reference:

The Tver Region and Gazprom inked a five-year Cooperation Agreement in January 2002. To promote the Agreement, the parties sealed an Accord on gas supply to the Tver Region in December 2004.

Last year Gazprom provided the Tver Region with over 3.8 bcm of gas and roughly 4 bcm is slated for this year.

The natural gas infrastructure of the Tver Region is developed by 51.9 per cent of maximum demand, including by 69.1 per cent in cities, towns & urban settlements and 18.1 per cent in rural area. The identical Russia-averaged parameters account for 53, 60 and 34.7 per cent, respectively).

Endorsed by the Regional authorities, the Program on gas supply to the Tver Region over 2001 to 2005 stipulates boosting natural gas deliveries to 51 per cent in 2005.

Under its programs on gas supply to the RF constituents between 2003 and 2004 Gazprom invested RUR 116.5 mln for constructing gas distribution grids in the Tver Region.

This year Gazprom has channeled over RUR 50 mln to build the Uglich – Kalyazin gas pipeline projected to be completed within 2005 and to mark the first phase in establishing a high energy efficiency demonstration zone in the town of Kalyazin.

The Tver Region’s authorities and Promgaz (a Gazprom subsidiary) entered into an agreement to devise a scheme of gas supply to a string of Regional areas. Additionally Promgaz is preparing the Substantiated Investments in the construction of the about 70-km-long Torzhok-Kuvshinovo-Ostashkov gas lateral, with the Saint Petersburg Institute for Thermal Energy and Lentransgaz acting as the project general designer and customer/builder, respectively. The pipeline is due to be completed in 2007.

Promgaz is expected to finalize a General Scheme of gas supply to the Tver Region in the upcoming year.
