Meeting of EuRoPol GAZ Supervisory Board held

The Supervisory Board of EuRoPol GAZ held a meeting yesterday in Warsaw moderated by Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom.

On behalf of the Russian party the meeting was attended by Nikolai Dubik, Member of the Company’s Management Committee, Head of the Legal Department, and Stanislav Tsygankov, Head of the International Business Department. The Polish party was represented by Michal Szubski, President of the Management Board of PGNiG, and Miroslaw Dobrut, Slawomir Hinc and Radoslaw Dudzinski, Vice Presidents of the Management Board of PGNiG.

The meeting addressed the procedure of approving the tariff for natural gas transmission across Poland in 2010 by the Energy Regulatory Office, as well as the issues surrounding operation and management of the current activities of the joint venture.

The EuRoPol GAZ Supervisory Board took the decision to temporarily (for the period of three months) remove Michal Kwiatkowski, President of the Management Board, Yury Kaluzhsky, Vice-President of the Management Board, and Jerzy Tabaka, Member of the Management Board, from office. During the said period the duties of the removed officials will be performed by Michal Szubski, Alexander Medvedev and Miroslaw Dobrut respectively.

As part of the visit, the representatives from Gazprom also met with Waldemar Pawlak, Poland’s Economy Minister and Vice Premier, Aleksander Grad, Treasury Minister, and Joanna Strzelec-Lobodzinska, Deputy Economy Minister. The parties discussed further steps on comprehensive settling of unresolved Russian-Polish cooperation issues in the gas sector.

 

Background:

Joint-Stock Company EuRoPol GAZ Transit Gas Pipeline System was founded in September 1993. The company was created within the Intergovernmental Agreement on the construction of a gas pipeline system for the Russian gas transit through Poland and Russian gas deliveries to Poland, dated August 25, 1993. Among the basic activity fields of EuRoPol GAZ are engineering, construction and operation of the Polish section of the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline.

EuRoPol GAZ owns a 684-kilometer-long Polish section of the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline in Poland and five compressor stations. The annual throughput capacity of the pipeline is close to 30 billion cubic meters, provided that five compressor stations are operated simultaneously.

Gazprom and PGNiG SA are the main shareholders of EuRoPol GAZ.
