Meeing on Russia’s UGTS security enhancement held

Today, in the Bashtransgaz’s Ufa (Bashkortostan’s capital) office, Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee, conducted a meeting dedicated to the enhancement of Russia’s United Gas Transmission System (UGTS) security.

Attending the meeting were heads and specialists of Gazprom and its gas transmission subsidiaries, Gazkomplektimpex, VNIIGAZ, Gazpromenergo, Gaznadzor, Gazsvyaz, Gazavtomatika, Gazobezopasnost, Orgenergogaz, Gazpromstroyengineering and other companies within the Gazprom Group.

The meeting addressed the implementation of targeted corporate programs aimed at the Gazprom’s Gas Transmission Network (GTN) repairing and upgrading, with special emphasis laid on stable functioning of Russia’s UGTS, as well.

At the same time, the meeting debated topical issues relative to the enhancement of Russia’s UGTS security, in particular, exchanging opinions on how to expand the life span of GTN’s crucial technological facilities and apply innovative technologies, equipment and progressive technical solutions when operating, repairing and upgrading said facilities.

The parties resolved to continue the work in the aforementioned directions, taking into account Gazprom’s increased gas production and expanded gas transmission by independent producers.

“Developing and enhancing the GTN security is a corporate top priority development strategy,” – emphasized Alexander Ananenkov.

Reference:

The over 150,000-km-long Russian UGTS (with Gazprom’s GTN as its integral component) is the world’s largest gas transmission system that includes 264 compressor stations (with 43.8 mln kW in overall capacity of gas pumping units) and counts on some 600 bcm in throughput.

At present, Gazprom operates 24 underground gas storage facilities within Russia, including the Ryazan region-based Kasimov (the world’s largest constructed in an aquifer) and the Stavropol area-based North Stavropol (the world’s largest built on a depleted gas field) UGS facilities.
