On working meeting between Alexey Miller and Valentina Matvienko

Led by Gazprom Management Committee Chairman Alexey Miller, the Company’s delegation arrived in Saint Petersburg to participate in the XIII International Economic Forum scheduled for June 4-6.

Today Alexey Miller met with Saint Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko.

The parties discussed the progress with the Agreement of Cooperation and Accord on Cooperation between Gazprom and Saint Petersburg Government.

Special emphasis was put on the construction of gas distribution pipelines in the suburbs of Saint Petersburg and on the implementation of the 2009 synchronized construction schedule for gasification facilities. The parties also discussed the reconstruction of heat supply facilities in the Kurortny and Petrogradsky districts as well as other cooperation issues.

Background:

The Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Saint Petersburg Government was signed in December 2008. In parallel, the Accord on Cooperation between Saint Petersburg and Gazprom was signed for 2009 as an extension to the Agreement.

In 2008 Gazprom supplied nearly 11 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Saint Petersburg consumers. This year deliveries are planned at roughly the same level.

In 2008 Gazprom invested RUB 1.3 billion in the gasification of Saint Petersburg. These funds were used to construct a total of 96.6 kilometers of gas pipelines.

Between 2004 and 2008 Gazprom committed more than RUB 10.6 billion to reconstruct heat supply facilities of the Petrogradsky, Kurortny and Petrodvortsovy districts of Saint Petersburg. Over this period, a total of 169 boiler houses were constructed and reconstructed, 642.1 kilometers of heat pipelines were built, and 247 thousand people in 2,201 houses were supplied with heat in Saint-Petersburg under the financial support of Gazprom. 390 schools, kindergartens, medical facilities and over 1,000 administration facilities were connected to new heat sources.
