Gazprom and EuRoPol GAZ to cooperate under Yamal – Europe-2 gas pipeline project

Today in Saint Petersburg Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Miroslaw Dobrut, Director General of EuRoPol GAZ inked a Memorandum of Understanding. The document stipulates that the Yamal – Europe-2 gas pipeline with the annual throughput of no less than 15 billion cubic meters of gas would run towards Slovakia and Hungary via Poland. A feasibility study for this project is expected to be available within six months.

The gas pipeline will allow increasing transit capacities of gas supplies to Poland, Slovakia and Hungary as well as reducing transmission costs. In addition, the project will enable to build up the volumes of Russian gas exported to the countries of Central Europe.

“The Yamal – Europe-2 project implies that some additional gas transmission capacities should be built to secure uninterrupted and reliable Russian gas supplies to European consumers.

The gas pipeline route will run through Poland and our Polish partners will take an active part in engineering and construction works,” said Alexey Miller.

Among the core businesses of EuRoPol GAZ are designing, construction and operation of the Polish section of the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline.

EuRoPol GAZ owns a 684-kilometer section of the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline in Poland.
