Today at Gazprom headquarters Alexey Miller, Chairman, Gazprom Management Committee, held a working meeting with Georgy Boos, Governor, Kaliningradskaya oblast.
The parties discussed the progress in implementing the Cooperation Agreement between Gazprom and Kaliningradskaya oblast. In particular, the possibility of increasing natural gas supplies to the oblastís consumers and the regionís gasification were discussed.
During the meeting special attention was devoted to the necessity of optimizing the energy balance of Kaliningradskaya oblast.
The five year Cooperation agreement between Gazprom and the government of Kaliningradskaya oblast was signed in March, 2005.
In 2004-2005, Gazprom provided funds in the amount of RUR42 million for the construction of three gasification facilities.
In 2004 Gazprom supplied 636 million cubic meters of gas to the oblastís consumers (the Minsk-Vilnius-Kaunas-Kaliningrad gas pipeline annual throughput capacity is 640 million cubic meters). In order to implement the Federal target program of Kaliningradskaya oblast development up to the year 2010 that stipulates the pipelineís capacity increase to 1.05 billion cubic meters of gas in 2005, a 63 km looping is currently under construction in Lithuania, Shakai flow metering station, and Krasnoznamenskaya compressor station located in Kalinigradskaya oblast, are being overhauled.
