Reference:

Founded in 1933 in London, the World Petroleum Congress (WPC) is an international non-profit organization convening every three years in various countries worldwide to discuss key challenges and development trends of the global petroleum industry, look into the use and production of hydrocarbon resources and exchange innovative shi-tech ideas.

The previous XVII WPC took place in 2002 in Rio de Janeiro.

Expansion of JSC Gazprom’s oil business is a key driver for Gazprom’s conversion into a prominent global oil & gas firm engaged in the entire gas and liquid hydrocarbons chain (from extraction to marketing) and producing a wide spectrum of end products.

At present, Gazprom produces some 12 mln t of liquid hydrocarbons per annum, to be shortly ramped up by commissioning the Prirazlomnoye, Novoportovskoye, Tazovskoye and other oil and oil & gas fields, and looks into the possibility of acquiring new assets in this sector both inside and outside Russia.
