Gazprom builds up production capacities to raise Cenomanian gas output to 115 billion cubic meters per annum at Zapolyarnoye field

Gazprom has completed construction and hookup of 42 extra production wells to produce gas from the Cenomanian deposit of the Zapolyarnoye field. This helped increasing the deposit's nominal capacity from 100 to 115 billion cubic meters of gas per annum.

The Company continues developing the Valanginian deposits of the Zapolyarnoye field. This year another comprehensive gas treatment unit (CGTU-1V) and 79 wells will be put onstream. Taking into account the CGTU-2V being in operation since 2011, the Valanginian gas production capacities at the field will increase from nearly 6.5 to nearly 15 billion cubic meters per annum.

Therefore, by late 2012 the total nominal capacity of the Zapolyarnoye field will grow to 130 billion cubic meters of gas per annum.

Construction of the necessary gas transmission capacities (main compressor station of the Zapolyarnoye field) is in progress. In particular, intense efforts are being taken to build the third compressor workshop scheduled for commissioning in the autumn-winter period of 2012–2013.

While on business trip, Gazprom's experts led by Vitaly Markelov, Deputy Chairman of the Company's Management Committee, also inspected production facilities being built at the Yamburgskoye and Urengoyskoye fields. At present, booster compressor stations are being expanded and extra wells are being drilled at the Yamburgskoye field. At the Urengoyskoye field the construction of a condensate pump station needed, inter alia, for improving gas production from the Valanginian deposits is underway.

Background

The Zapolyarnoye oil, gas and condensate field is located in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area. It is one of the largest fields in Russia, its reserves average 3 trillion cubic meters of gas.

The field is being developed by Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom). In 2004 the Cenomanian deposit of the Zapolyarnoye field was brought to the nominal capacity of 100 billion cubic meters of gas per annum.
