The vehicles complying with the EURO-3 requirements are fitted with the turbocharged GAZ-5602 diesel engine.
The GAZ-5602 is a further development of the GAZ-560 engine being produced at JSC GAZ under the license of the Steyr company (Austria). The GAZ designers developed a new fuel supply control system which provides for meeting the EURO-3 norms by the GAZ-560 engine. In 2004 the design documentation was developed, evaluation and certification tests for compliance with the ECE UNO regulations were carried out, the production engineering was worked out.
The manufacture of the EURO-3 vehicles was set up to ensure export supplies to countries, in which these toxicity norms are in force.
