Today on February 10, 2004 FETEC (Dalsvyaz) starts commercial operation of multi-service data transmission network in Sakhalin. Network construction took about two years and was completed at the end of 2003. The project value was over $1 million USD. Multi-service network is based on ATM on the basis of optical fiber cable. Producer of base equipment is Cisco Systems Inc. FETEC (Dalsvyaz) specialists installed it.
Project implementation consists of 3 stages. The first stage after operation testing resulted in coverage of district center of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk with suburbs where 8 grounds of all city exchanges formed a ring. Operation testing is started and commercial launch of multi-service network of Nogliky is planned this February and that of southern Sakhalin, Korsakov, Nevelsk and Kholmsk in 2004.
Launching multi-service network of data transmission the Company started to provide DSL Internet access for Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk residents (speed up to 8Mb per a second).
Sergey Goncharov, head of IT Center of Sakhalin branch of the OJSC FETEC (Dalsvyaz) mentions fast speed and high quality among main advantages of new IT.
Sergey Goncharov said that several tens of customers applied to the company for new service subscription.
Installation of DSL Internet in Sakhalin region costs 15,950 rubles with VAT (including cost of modem). Monthly fee is 595 rubles (including 200Mb of incoming traffic).
