Moscow, 22 May. Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" Mikhail Abyzov sent a letter to the Chairman of the Company's Board of Directors Alexander Voloshin requesting that his name be removed from the list of nominees for the Board of Directors of the Company to be voted on at the Annual General Meeting of shareholders scheduled for 30 May.

Explaining the reason for his refusal to stand for the Board of Directors of RAO "UES of Russia", Mikhail Abyzov said that he was grateful to the shareholders who nominated him for the Board and that he viewed his nomination as display of confidence in him and in the Company's management as a whole. However, according to Abyzov, the number of representatives from RAO "UES of Russia" management on the Company Board was optimal, which is why he did not think it advisable to run for the Board.

He said that, as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia, he viewed the effort to increase efficiency of the energy utility as a top priority. Besides, he would spend much time developing the Russian Housing Utilities Systems project, in which RAO "UES of Russia" is taking an active part.

Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia", Vyacheslav Sinyugin, also sent a letter to withdraw his nomination for the Board of Directors of RAO "UES of Russia".
