Moscow, 3 August 2005. According to most recent reports, the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" increased generation of electricity by 1.2% in the first seven months of 2005 year-on-year to 381.4 billion kWh from 376.8 billion kWh. The thermal power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 305.8 billion kWh, up 2.3% on the same period last year, whereas the hydropower plants produced 75.6 billion kWh, down 3.2% in year-on-year terms. Such changes in the electricity output by the Holding Company's hydropower plants was due to the lower water inflow levels at reservoirs of some HPPs during the period under review.
In July 2005, the Holding Company's power plants generated 45.6 billion kWh of electricity, which represents an increase of 1.1% compared to July last year. The thermal power plants generated 34.9 billion kWh of electricity, while the hydropower plants produced 10.7 billion kWh.
