Moscow, 30 October 2006. RAO "UES of Russia" and Germany's Association of the Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry (ZVEI)* have signed a Memorandum on Cooperation in developing the market of bilateral supplies, standardization, and certification of energy equipment.
The Memorandum provides for cooperation in harmonization of the Russian technical standards and regulations with the international (IEC/ISO), regional (CEN/CENELEC), and national (DIN) standards. This will enable the German manufacturers to supply equipment to the Russian market avoiding expensive implementations and technical modifications to their equipment and systems. Implementation of the memorandum will help the generation and grid companies of RAO "UES of Russia" receive more offers to supply modern power equipment through B2B-energo el-trading system.
Another important aspect of the Memorandum is that both sides seek to harmonize the certification process for products, which will help both Russian and German companies avoid expensive re-examinations and development of additional technical documentation.
*The Association of the Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry of Germany (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie, ZVEI) unites over 1,400 companies whose aggregate annual turnover accounts for over 90% volume of goods and services in the sector.
** The Information and e-Trading System "Goods, Services and Technology Markets for the Electricity Industry - B2B-Energo" was created in 2002 to provide procurement services to RAO UES entities. Since the system's launch, B2B-energo's overall trading volume has exceeded RUB49.2 billion. Over the period, over 5,570 auctions and tenders have been announced on this trading venue, and over 16,000 bids and offers have been made.
