Moscow, 13 December 2006. Today, member of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" Leonid Gozman and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Fortov presented prizes to the winners of the New Generation Awards 2006 for the best scientific research work in the energy field.
65 young researchers and students received diplomas and prizes at the Awards founded by the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" and the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Awards have been held annually by the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2002. Since 2004, RAO "UES of Russia" has been their organizer, providing the prize money. The New Generation awards are intended to support talented young researchers and encourage their professional development and creative activities. To date, 183 students and 216 young scientists have been named laureates of the Awards.
The contest seeks research papers which make a significant contribution to the development of scientific knowledge and are characterized by a unique approach to addressing scientific problems. Research papers may be submitted by researchers, lecturers, post-graduates of the RAS entities and other organizations in Russia, aged under 35 years as at the time of the paper submission.
Winners are selected by the Expert Commission from among the nominees proposed by the Supervisory Board, which consists of well-known Russian academics and RAO UES experts.
