Moscow, 3 May 2005. 14 subsidiaries of RAO "UES of Russia", including OAO "Buryatenergo", OAO "Kuzbassenergo", OAO "Omskenergo", OAO "Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP", etc., took part in the first trading session on the competitive segment of the wholesale electricity market in Siberia.

The competitive segment of the wholesale electricity market in Siberia was inaugurated on 1 May 2005 pursuant to Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 219 of 15 April 2005 "On making amendments to the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 643 of 24 October 2003."

The competitive segment of Siberia's wholesale electricity market is run by Non-profit Partnership "Administrator of Trading System" (NP "ATS"). During the first day of trading, NP "ATS" received 38 orders, including 13 bids and 25 offers. During the first twenty-four hours, the aggregate electricity demand on the competitive market in Siberia amounted to 29,110 MWh, with the aggregate electricity supply standing at 7,645 MWh. The average weighted purchase price of electricity in Siberia's competitive market segment was RUB312.43 per MWh.
