Moscow, 13 April 2006. OAO "Energozashchita Insurance Broker" has for the first time held a tender to select insurers to provide coverage in 2006 to a large energy company, OAO "Irkutskenergo", which is not a subsidiary of RAO "UES of Russia".

In the selection process, the insurance broker employed its methods designed to formulate comprehensive insurance plans and unique procedures for the conduct of public tenders to select insurance providers.

The comprehensive insurance for OAO "Irkutskenergo" will cover various risks, such as fire, equipment breakage, business interruption, terrorism, mandatory motor third-party liability, etc.

Among the bidders were Russia's four major insurers, Ingosstrakh, ROSNO, SOGAZ, and Kapital Strakhovaniye. Ingosstrakh and ROSNO were named winners.

OAO "Energozashchita Insurance Broker" was established in 2004 by RAO "UES of Russia", which holds a 61% stake in the company, and JLT Risk Solutions with 39% shares. The company specializes in placement of electric power risks. The broker's principal clients are the 360 energy companies that are part of RAO UES Holding Company. Energozashchita assists its clients in creating comprehensive insurance coverage products, holding tenders to select insurance providers, and advising on issues related to insurance contracts.

OAO "Irkutskenergo" was established in July 1992. At end-2005, Irkutskenergo was Russia's third largest energy company in terms of electricity production, and second in terms of heat output. Its major shareholders are the Russian Federation (40%) and ING (Eurasia) Bank (47%).
