Moscow, 6 September 2005. In the first eight months of 2005, the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" increased generation of electricity year-on-year by 1.6% to 429 billion kWh from 422.1 billion kWh. The thermal power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 342,8 billion kWh, up 3% on the same period last year, whereas the hydropower plants produced 86,2 billion kWh, down 3.8% in year-on-year terms.
In August 2005, the Holding Company's power plants generated 47.6 billion kWh of electricity, which represents an increase of 4.8% compared to August last year. The thermal power plants generated 37.1 billion kWh of electricity, while the hydropower plants produced 10.5 billion kWh.
In the first eight months of 2005, the Unified Energy System of Russia operated at the standard electrical frequency prescribed by GOST (50±0.05 Hz) 100% of the calendar time.
