Moscow. 20 July 2006. Official registration was granted to OAO "Energy Industry Science and Technology Center", a subsidiary of RAO "UES of Russia". The Board of Directors of RAO "UES of Russia" approved the establishment of the company at its meetings held 3 September 2004 and 16 March 2006.

OAO "Energy Industry STC" was created as a result of the merger the following leading scientific, research and development institutes of the electricity industry: OAO "VNIIE", OAO "NIC VVA", OAO "ROSEP", and OAO "SibNIIE". As a legal successor to the institutes comprising it, the new company will continue the scientific research, engineering investigations, testing, certification, design efforts, as well as the development of technical standards, rules and regulations for the electricity industry.

OAO "Energy Industry STC" is the largest research and development center in the Russian electricity industry. It is intended to consolidate the scientific and technical research activities in the area of power grids and power engineering and raise them to a qualitatively new level. This will make OAO "Energy Industry STC" one of the key players in both domestic and international markets for scientific research, development and R&M services.
