Moscow, 19 October 2005. On 17 October 2005, the Government of Russia signed a Resolution "On making amendments to the Resolutions of the Government of the Russian Federation on the matters relating to the deviations sector of the wholesale electricity (capacity) market of the transitional period."

The Resolution sets a timeframe for the launch of the deviations sector of the transitional wholesale electricity (capacity) market and the sector's rules known as the "balancing market rules".

On October 19^th, NP "ATS" started acceptance of "day ahead" bids and offers which will determine the prices in the wholesale market's deviations sector on 20 October 2005. The System Operator started calculating preliminary prices for tomorrow. The information will be posted on the System Operator's website.

The operational monitoring suggests that the energy companies of RAO "UES of Russia" are prepared for work in the deviations sector of the wholesale market's balancing segment.
