Moscow. 15 June 2004. In late May and early June this year, there was a severe flood caused by abnormally high temperatures in East Siberia. Bureyskaya HPP, where the inflow rate grew to 9,000 m3 per second, has played an important role in preventing the flood damage. Such a high flow rate on the Bureya River has been observed for the fifth time in the ninety years on record.
The power plant's staff was ready for working in such adverse conditions and was able to ensure stable operation of the HPP and prevent the flooding of the settlements of Malinovka and Novobureysky located down the river.
