Moscow, 25 June. RAO "UES of Russia" CEO, President of CIS Electric Power Council* Anatoly Chubais will take part in the 23rd meeting of the Council to be held on 27 June in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
The Council will discuss the issues of strategic importance for the efficient functioning and long-term development of the interconnected power systems of the CIS countries, including preparation for synchronizing the operation of the interconnected power systems (IPS) of the CIS and Baltic countries with TESIS**, and implementation of the action plan relating to the Agreement on ensuring synchronous operation of the CIS power systems.
The Council also plans to consider the Basic Principles for the establishment and development of interstate electricity market of the CIS countries and Expansion of international cooperation in the area of electric power industry.
The Meeting will be attended by Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Energy, as well as chief executives of energy companies from the Council member states. Also expected to attend are representatives from international energy organizations and companies from the former USSR and other foreign countries.
* Electric Power Council and its governing body, the Executive Committee, were established pursuant to the Agreement on coordination of interstate relations in the field of electric power industry of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which was signed by the heads of the CIS Governments on 14 February 1992. The primary objective of the Council is to establish relations of partnership and cooperation in the sphere of electric power industry among the CIS member states.
