Moscow, 23 December 2003. RAO "UES of Russia" has been announced the Power Company of the Year in the 2003 Platts Global Energy Awards.

The Awards jury has noted the innovations in corporate governance, smooth operation of the Holding's entities, a good shareholder relations programme, and RAO UES' contribution to the overall development of the electricity industry.

The Global Energy Awards have been held for the fifth time. The Awards jury, which consists of top executives from the major US and European companies, had to select winners in 15 categories from over 200 nominations. ExxonMobil Corp. has been named the Oil Company of the Year, Peabody Energy the Coal Company of the Year, and AGL Resources the Gas Company of the Year.
