B2B-Energo's overall trading volume exceeds RUB 300bn

Moscow, 19 March 2008. B2B-Energo's overall trading volume has exceeded RUB304.4 billion.

The system makes it possible for the participants, including RAO UES subsidiaries, not only to purchase equipment, consumables, fuel, and repair services, but also hold public tenders for EPC-contracts to build new energy facilities on a turnkey basis. Recently, OAO "TGC-10" has completed an open single-stage tender to choose a contractor to construct a new combined-cycle generation unit at the Chelyabinskaya CHPP-3 on a turnkey basis held through "B2B-Energo". There were six bidders, with the contract awarded to ZAO "Intertechelectro", which offered to implement the project for RUB3.5 billion.

B2B-Energo is used not only for traditional procurement, but also for competitive procedures to select financial services providers. For instance, OAO "Permenergo" held a tender to select a provider of credit facility to finance its working capital needs. As a result, the company was able to raise a RUB2.4 billion facility from Russia's three major banks – West-Urals Division of Sberbank of Russia, the Perm branch of Gazprombank, and ZAO Absolut Bank.

The system's functionality has been recently expanded with a new service, an electronic bank guarantee which is important for meeting the performance bond requirements. Its advantages are that it is not necessary to provide hard copy documents or open an account. Simultaneously with bidding, B2B-Energo participants submit requests for a guarantee, and the system automatically calculates its limit and provides an electronic confirmation.

The average number of bidders in one tender is an indicator of successful development of the e-marketplace for the electricity industry. Their number increased form 3-4 bidders in 2005 to 14-15 bidders in early 2008.

B2B-users can simultaneously take part in more than 1,270 online tenders and auctions.

Since the system's launch, over 37,790 tenders and auctions have been announced on the e-trading floor, with more than 13,760 bids and offers submitted through the system. Currently, the system is used by the great majority of suppliers of RAO "UES of Russia" (over 15,600 entities).
