Chelyabinsk, Russia – October 15, 2009 - The Board of Directors of Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant (LSE: CHZN, RTS: CHZN, MICEX: CHZN) adopted a decision to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of CZP on January 12, 2010. Shareholders can participate in the meeting personally or submit voting ballots which will be counted for the purposes of the meeting’s quorum. The Board of Directors of CZP has set October 20, 2009 as the record date for preparing the list of shareholders entitled to participate in the Extraordinary General Meeting.
The Extraordinary General Meeting will address the following agenda items:
1. Early termination of the powers of the members of the Board of Directors of CZP.
2. Determination of the composition and election of the members of the Board of Directors’ of CZP.
3. Early termination of the powers of the members of the Audit Commission of CZP.
4. Determination of the composition and election of the members of the Audit Commission of CZP.
The information (materials) that must be provided to shareholders in preparation for the Extraordinary General Shareholders' Meeting will be on display from December 23, 2009 (on business days during business hours from 10:00AM to 4:00PM) at the Property Department of CZP, situated at: 24 Sverdlovsky Trakt, Chelyabinsk 454008, Russian Federation.
Completed voting ballots should be forwarded to the following address: Chelyabinsk Zinc Plant, 24 Sverdlovsky Trakt, Chelyabinsk 454008, Russian Federation. The deadline for submission of completed voting ballots to the Company will be published at a later date. The Extraordinary Genera Meeting will be held at the following venue: The Conference Hall of the plant administration building (bldg. 4), situated at: Sverdlovsky Trakt, 24, Chelyabinsk, Russian Federation. The Extraordinary General Meeting will start at 14:00 (local time), with the registration of meeting participants beginning at 12:00 (local time).
Additionally, the Board of Directors of CZP appointed Mr. Andrey Panshin as the new General Director of CZP.

Mr. Panshin from 2004 to May 2008 occupied a position Technical Director of OJSC Electrozinc In May 2008 he was appointed General Director of OJSC Electrozinc.
Mr. Panshin graduated from Ural State Technical University. Mr. Panshin holds a PhD in Technical Science.
