Moscow, Russia – December 22, 2009 – Sistema (the “Group”) (LSE: SSA), the largest diversified public financial corporation in Russia and the CIS, which invests in and is a major shareholder of companies operating in different industries, today announced that its Board of Directors has convened an Extraordinary General Meeting of shareholders to vote on the Sistema’s proposed participation in an investment agreement, and any amendments thereto, to launch full-scale 90 nanometre microchip production in the Russian Federation, at an. The proposal follows the agreement signed between the Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies (“RUSNANO”), Sistema, SITRONICS and SITRONICS subsidiaries: “SITRONICS-Nano” and “NIIME and Mikron”, which are part of SITRONICS’ Microelectronics business division. The EGM will be convened by proxy and the final date for the receipt of ballots is February 8, 2010.
Shareholders registered at the record date of December 21, 2009 will be eligible to participate in, and vote at, the EGM by proxy. The EGM materials will be available from December 30, 2009 on Sistema’s website at www.sistema.com or by request from Sistema’s head office.
