The relationship between Severstal and VAI-Pomini (a joint venture of Tekint and Voest Alpine) started in 2001 by signing a contract with Tekint (Italy) for engineering and construction of the Continuous Casting Machine. Presently, Tekint experts are finishing testing of the Continuous Casting Machine to get it to meet the quality and the rate of production requirements specified in the contract.
In July 2002, with the beginning of testing of the Continuous Casting Machine Severstalmash has also launched a relationship with VAI-Pomini. SSM-Engineering -part of Severstalmash -Severstal’s spun off maintenance and repairs company, has adjusted molds’ drafts to Russian standards and norms. VAI-Pomini then placed an order for making of three molds with Severstalmash.
Impressed with the quality of the first lot VAI-Pomini agreed to sign a licensing agreement with Severstalmash. This means that orders for the production of all molds for Severstal’s Continuous Casting Machine will be placed with Severstalmash.
