New Delhi, India – March 12, 2010 – Unique Russian Winter exposition has been opened in the exposition hall of the Russian Science and Culture Center in New Delhi (India). The exposition is made on the basis of collection of the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) with support of Sistema Charity Fund.
It is the first exposition of the Russian Museum ever brought to India. Its opening is timed to the official visit of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to India.
The State Russian Museum is the largest collection of the national fine art established under Emperor Nikolay II Decree in 1895. Current museum collection includes more than 380 000 exhibits related to all historic periods and all Russian art development trends, its main types, genres, ways and schools for 1000 years. Indian public will see 33 works including that of famous artists: Boris Kustodiyev, Igor Grabar, Konstantin Makovsky, Alexey Savrasov, Pyotr Gruzinsky and other painters of XIX and XX centures.
The exhibition is presented in the network of long-term cooperation of Sistema JSFC and the Russian Museum under the relevant agreement signed in 2003. MTS OJSC and the Russian Science and Culture Center in New Delhi have provided support in exhibition organization. Aeroflot transported pictures from St. Petersburg to New Delhi.
The exposition will be opened till April 4, 2010.
