Moscow, 22 February 2005. On Thursday, 24 February 2005, the Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" Anatoly Chubais will take part in the official ceremony to start the construction of the Ivanovo CCGTs, a thermal power plant in the city of Komsomolsk, Ivanovo Region. The ceremony will also be attended by the Ivanovo Region Governor Vladimir Tikhonov, the Yaroslavl Region Governor Anatoly Lisitsyn, the CEO of FGUP "Technopromexport" Sergey Molozhavy, the Director General of OAO "Power Machines" Evgeny Yakovlev, and the Director General of NPO "Saturn" Yury Lastochkin.
The project provides for the construction of two combined-cycle turbines, PGU-325, with the aggregate capacity of 701.7 MW. Construction of the first unit of the new power plant with the installed capacity of 354.1 MW of electricity and 27.5 Gcal/h of heat is scheduled to be completed in 2007.
PGU-325 at the Ivanovo CCGTs is the first combined-cycle gas turbine unit in the country developed and designed by Russian energy engineering companies (OAO "Power Machines" and NPO "Saturn").
The combined-cycle technology is an economical method for burning natural gas at thermal power plants.
