Moscow, 4 April 2006. Today, the annual Exhibition and Seminar "Labour Protection in Energy Industry 2006" has opened in the Electrification pavilion of the All-Russian Exhibition Center (VVTs). The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Technical Director and Chief Technical Inspector of RAO "UES of Russia" Viktor Pauli and Chairman of the All-Russian Committee of the Electricity Trade Union ("Electroprofsoyuz") Valery Vakhrushev.
The event, which will be held April 4 through April 7, 2006, will be attended by over 300 occupational health and safety executives and specialists from energy companies of RAO "UES of Russia" who will address the innovation aspects of management in the area of professional reliability, safety and health protection, and the practical aspects of labour protection in the electricity industry.
According to Viktor Pauli, head of the event's organizational committee, special attention at the seminar will be paid to the implementation of the international standard, OHSAS 18000 "Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems".
The Exhibition and Seminar are organized by RAO "UES of Russia" and are part of the Company's efforts to implement the Programme of Actions to Increase the Reliability of the UES of Russia. RAO UES attaches special importance to labour protection at energy enterprises. This is achieved through implementation of advanced technologies aimed at improving labour safety, and use of personnel protection facilities to protect people from hazardous and dangerous exposures. A catalogue will be published after the event, covering the key technologies and solutions in the area.
