Uralkali

October 8, 2003

Representatives of twenty-two corporate newspapers of the Perm region took part in the seminar, organized by Uralkali

Uralkali has arranged a seminar for corporate newspapers of the Perm region to mark the fifth anniversary of the regional corporate media club and the forty-fifth anniversary of "Sol Zemly" ("Salt of the Earth") newsletter published by Uralkali.

The seminar brought together representatives of twenty-two company newsletters from Perm, Berezniki, Alexandrovsk, Chaykovsky, Lysva, Solikamsk and other cities and towns of the region. According to Vasily Moiseyev, chairman of the regional branch of the Russia's Union of Journalists, the combined one issue number of copies of the newsletters represented in the seminar makes up around 130 thousand.

As part of the agenda, the organizers set up a special meeting for the editors of the corporate media outlets with the vice-governor of the Perm region Mr. Nikolay Yashin. The meeting covered such issues as the place and role of the mass media in modern life in general and its role in the economic development of the region in particular. At the press conference given after the meeting the seminar participants could address their questions to Nikolay Yashin and Maxim Shirokov, General Director of Uralkali.

"I'm grateful to Uralkali for giving me an opportunity to attend the meeting of the corporate media club." - said Nikolay Yashin. "I'm especially pleased to congratulate in person the editors of the "Sol Zemly" newsletter with their anniversary because I sincerely love and respect this newspaper."

"We are proud of the fact that Uralkali was one of the first media outlets to back up the initiative of the regional journalist organization to create a corporate media club." - said Maxim Shirokov. "We fully recognize the important role corporate media has to play in the internal processes of the company. It's hard to overestimate that importance because if the employees are not fully aware of the direction their enterprise is heading in, and of its long-term objectives, there can be no real progress. That's why we are paying great attention to the development of corporate mass media outlets within our company."

The chairman of the regional journalist organization Vasily Moiseyev presented to Mr. Shirokov a distinction letter thanking him for close cooperation and assistance in the relationship with regional journalists.

"We've been actively cooperating with Uralkali for several years." - Moiseyev said. "The company helped us organize the festival to mark the 300th anniversary of the Russian press. Urallkalii provided general sponsorship for our Berezniki festival called `Journalist Spring'. The company was also one of the most efficient sponsors of one of the latest journalist festivals given in the city of Chaykovsky."

Uralkali organized for the participants of the seminar in the boarding house "Uralskoye Razdolye" a series of lectures presented by Mr. Iosif Dzyaloshinky, one of the most prominent figures of Russia in the area of mass media, doctor of sciences, professor of the Moscow State University and chairman of the Board of the Independent Institute of Communicative Sciences. The seminar's agenda also included a professional journalist contest. The newsletters "Gorod" of OAO "Privod" (Lysva) and "Sol Zemly" of OAO "Uralkali" (Berezniki) won awards in different nominations.
