Moscow, 13 February 2004. The power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" located in the Centre of Russia and the Urals continue working despite the limited gas supply due to the accident on the Yamburg-Yelets gas transmission pipeline. Not one of the energy systems affected by the limited gas supply have introduced restrictions on the supply of energy to their consumers.
To compensate for the shortage of gas, the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" are still using the reserve fuels – heavy fuel oil and coal – the stocks of which are 10-180% higher than the standard inventories in all regional energos. The standard fuel inventories are sufficient to maintain normal and uninterrupted supply of energy to consumers for at least 10 days.

Until the repairs at the gas pipeline are completed, the enterprises of RAO "UES of Russia" will endeavour their best efforts to prevent a reduction in electricity and heat production because of limited gas supply.
* The pipeline accident occurred on Wednesday evening in Perm Region, 130 kilometres from the city of Perm.
