TMK, one of the world's largest producers of pipes for the oil and gas industry, announces today that it was awarded a supply contract from Novatek, Russia’s largest independent gas producer.

TMK was chosen to supply Novatek with 37 thousand tonnes of 426 mm diameter K52 grade gas tubulars with 11 mm and 12 mm wall thickness. The pipes will be used at Novatek’s Yurkharovskoye gas field.

TMK’s Volzhsky Pipe Plant will produce the pipes and shipments are to begin in October 2008. TMK will supply 11 thousand tonnes of pipes before January 2008 and a further 26 thousand tonnes will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Discovered in 1970, the Yurkharovskoye natural gas and gas condensate field is located within the Arctic Circle, southeast of the Tazovsky peninsula, in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.  It is Novatek’s largest field in terms of reserves, and the second-largest in terms of production.
