Gazprom’s Headquarters has hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and Ruprecht Polenz, Chairman of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee.
The meeting discussed further deepening of cooperation between Russia and the European Union in the energy sector.
The meeting pointed out that the European market currently receiving some 70 per cent of Gazprom’s total natural gas exports had been playing a major role in the Company’s export strategy for so far thirty years. To that end, particular significance is attached to the fact that Gazprom has always been a reliable partner playing a key role for the European energy security.
Addressing further diversification of Russian natural gas supply routes, the parties reviewed the North European Gas Pipeline construction and discussed matters concerning cooperation deepening between Gazprom and German companies.
Alexey Miller and Ruprecht Polenz also looked into ways of increasing Russian natural gas exports in view of projected growth of gas consumption in Europe.
