JSC COMSTAR-UTS delivered wireless Internet to Jostovo, Iksha and Yakhroma

August 5, 2009, Ìoscow. Comstar – United TeleSystems (JSC Comstar-UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading supplier of integrated telecommunication solutions in Russia and the CIS, announced that the Moscow Region Branch (MRB) of JSC Comstar-UTS has commercially introduced the fixed wireless broadband Internet access network 5.5 GHz in Jostovo, Iksha and Yakhroma, the Moscow’s suburbs.

The MRB’s specialists have installed equipment at the base stations to provide Internet access over dedicated wireless channels with committed data rates up to 27 Mbps. The point is that all the base stations are linked to MRB’s own backbone network having a capacity of 100 Mbps, thus ensuring highly reliable and quality  service. The network footprint ranges from 15 to 20 km within direct visibility of the base stations. So, the network covers the Dmitrovsky and Mytishchinsky districts of the  Moscow Region.

Through wireless access equipment JSC Comstar-UTS is going to provide both individuals and entities in  Jîstovo, Iksha and Yakhroma with data transfer and voice information services, as well as channels for access to telematic services, in compliance with licenses issued by Federal Service for Oversight in the sphere of Telecommunications, IT and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor).

Dmitry Dronov, MRB’s Director commented: «By making available the broadband wireless Internet access network, we secured an eagerly-awaited opportunity for residents and entities in Jostovo, Iksha and Yakhroma, and those in neighboring cottage compounds to surf the Web. Moreover, this newly created network enabled other telecom services widely in demand lately such as, digital telephony, IPTV, VPNs. The wireless access technology when used at the “last mile” avoids having to pull more fiber-optics cables, significantly saving the cost and time needed for connections».
