Bishkek, August 2, 2007   - The Tender Committee for the investment substantiation (pre-feasibility study) for the project of construction of Kambaratinsk HPP-1 and HPP-2 has started to consider tenderers’ applications in Bishkek, the capital of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

As reported by Committee members, 2 applications have been submitted. One has been submitted by Canada's SNC-LAVALIN INTERNATIONAL INC.; the other - by the UK's Mott MacDonald Limited.

The Tender was announced late in May and has been held in compliance with the resolutions passed at the intergovernmental level by Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. To organize it, a simple partnership was set up, to comprise JSC INTER RAO UES, OJSC Elektricheskiye Stantsii (Republic of Kyrgyzstan) and JSC KazKuat (Republic of Kazakhstan).  At that JSC INTER RAO UES represents the entire holding RAO UES of Russia and performs the functions of the Tender organizer.

Each country has appointed 3 representatives which comprise the Tender Committee. The representative of JSC INTER RAO UES is the Chairman of the Committee.

Initially, the deadline for the acceptance of applications was scheduled for June 29, but in view of the large scope of work involved and the complexity of the project, the tenderers applied to the organizers twice with a request to shift the deadline. According to the decision made on July 20, the deadline for the acceptance of applications was moved to 12:00 am on July 31 (Moscow time).

The Tender results are expected to be announced in late August.

According to the project, Kambaratinsk HPP-1, located at the Karabash dam site on the Naryn River, will be the largest facility of the entire Kambaratinsk HPP complex. The station's design capacity is 1,900 MW; the forecast annual output of electric power is 5.1 bln kWh.
