Gazprom approves Program to develop gas fueling network

Gazprom approved a Targeted Comprehensive Program for the development of Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs) and Fueling Stations over 2007 to 2015 prepared under the task of the Gazprom Board of Directors.

The Program is aimed at developing the infrastructure of automated NGV fueling compressor stations and increasing a number of NGVs and agricultural equipment working on CNG.

The Program stipulates that 200 new NGV fuelling compressor stations will be commissioned during 2007-2015 and 90 mobile automated gas fueling stations in 47 Russian regions.

By 2015 the Program execution will stimulate doubling of Russian NGVs operated on CNG to create 1700 new working places and reduce emissions into the atmosphere by 1 mln tons.

Reference:

Today 218 NGV fuelling stations operate in the Russian Federation and 185 stations are owned by Gazprom. The total CNG amount sold-off at said NGV fuelling stations from 1998 through 2006 has increased from 60 to 286 mcm of gas. Within this period a number of NGVs operating on CNG increased up to 60 thousands.

In 2006 CNG average retail price for motor transport in Russia is at RUR 5.4 for 1 cubic meter (one cubic meter of CNG is an equivalent to 1 liter of petroleum or diesel fuel).
