On the 10th of April the interregional foundation trade union conference of JSC North-West Telecom took place in St. Petersburg. It was attended by 127 delegates elected by trade union conferences of all branches of the Company.

Telecommunications trade union leaders were invited to the conference:  A.G. Nazeykin, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Trade Unions of Telecommunication Workers of Russia, chairpersons of the territorial organizations of the North-Western Region, A.N. Kozenkov, Chairman of the Interregional Trade Union Organization of JSC Uralsvyazinform, directors of JSC NWT's branches and JSC NWT's top management. 

The conference took a decision to found an Interregional Trade Union Organization of JSC North-West Telecom – a single trade union vertical is being created in the framework of the united company JSC NWT: from trade union groups, primary organizations united into trade union organizations of JSC NWT's branches to the Interregional Trade Union Organization at the level of the Company.

The purpose of creating a single professional organization of JSC North-West Telecom is to coordinate the actions of representing and protecting the social and employment rights and interests of the Company's employees.  The Interregional Trade Union Organization (ITUO) will facilitate uniting the trade union members working for JSC NWT, its subsidiaries and other enterprises having something in common with the Company in production, technology or specialization.  This is an important step of the making and development of the united company and protection of the interests of all employees of NWT.

The conference took a resolution on including the Interregional Trade Union Organization of JSC NWT in the All-Russia Trade Union of Telecommunication Workers of the RF according to the principles of equal-rights partnership and cooperation with retaining the independence in economic and financial activities. 

T.A. Shuyskaya, the Chairwoman of the Primary Trade Union Organization of the St. Petersburg branch of JSC NWT, has been  elected the Chairwoman of the Interregional Trade Union Organization of JSC NWT of the All-Russia Trade Union of Telecommunication Workers of the RF.

NWT's trade unions play an important role in developing social partnership and joint activities with the employer. In 2005, in the period of reorganization of OJSC North-West Telecom, trade unions monitored all changes taking place in the company and played the role of a link between the employees and the employer.   

During the conference, A.G. Nazeykin, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Trade Unions of Telecommunication Workers of Russia, awarded a commemorative medal "100th Anniversary of Trade Unions of Russia" to G.B. Chernyak, Deputy General Manager for Assets Management and General Issues. That was the appreciation of the business cooperation of the Company and G.B. Chernyak personally with the All-Russia Trade Union of Telecommunication Workers of Russia and of many years of fruitful work aimed at social development and promotion of the healthy life-style in North-West Telecom.
