Gazprom's Headquarters has hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of Gazprom's Management Committee and Besnik Mustafaj, Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The parties discussed the prospects for the Russian-Albanian cooperation in the gas sector, placing a focus on potential construction of gas transmission capacities for Russian gas supply to Albania and transmission to third countries including Italy.
To promote the multilateral cooperation in the energy sector the parties agreed to shortly convene a joint meeting of experts.

Albania’s proved natural gas reserves account for 2 bcm. In 2004 Albania produced 30 MMcm of gas. The bulk of existing national gas pipelines having a total length of 364 km have been built in 1970-80s, with some of them – back in the 1930s.
The Albanian side has repeatedly expressed its willingness to import Russian natural gas through Macedonia and Greece. There are currently expert consultations on cooperation matters in the energy sector, including possible involvement of Gazprom in the construction of a transit pipeline across Albania.
