Ulyanovsk Grids develop the system of intellectual power metering

Ulyanovsk Grids Branch of Rosseti Volga (a brand of IDGC of Volga, PJSC) continues installing smart metering devices in the Ulyanovsk region. In 2020, power engineers will continue their work in all municipalities. The main purpose of installing smart meters is transpare

ncy of metering of electricity consumption, minimization of losses in networks. The meter itself and its installation will be completely free for a consumer. Simultaneously with its installation, the power engineers will replace a conventional wire with a self-supporting insulated wire at the inputs to the living room, thereby increasing the reliability and safety of the connection. In total, since 2016, from the beginning of the implementation of energy service contracts in the Ulyanovsk region, 24,700 metering devices have been installed.

Power engineers note a positive effect in reducing the level of electricity losses in areas where a new energy metering system has already been introduced. In some settlements, the distribution lines of which are equipped with automated metering devices, it was possible to reduce losses by 10–15 %.

The power engineers plan to supplement the meters with the function of transmitting data not only about the consumed electricity, but also about the state of the network and interruptions that occur. This will allow you to respond quickly in case of technological violations in the networks, reduce the time and number of interruptions in power supply and control the quality of the transmitted electricity. Such a fundamentally new solution is one of the stages of digitalization of the electric grid complex, designated as a priority task for the development of the Rosseti Group of Companies until 2030.
