On July 20,2004the 21st FILDA – 2004 International Fair closed in the Angolan capital Luanda. 500 companies from over 25 countries had taken part in this annual event.
It was the second consecutive time that ALROSA, Russia’s diamond mining company, presented its exposition in Luanda.
Like last year,ALROSA’ s booth was a success with visitors, especially the parts of the exposition highlighting the company’s projects in Africa – the Catoca mine, development of the Camatchia and Camagico diamond deposits and construction of a hydroelectric power plant on the Chicapa River.
Among the company’s guests were Angolan first deputyprime minister Aguinaldo Jaime, industry minister Joaquim David and secretary general of Angola’s MPLA party Juliao Mateus Paolo ‘Dino Matross’. The overall number of visitors to the ALROSA booth was over 3 000 people.
ALROSA also presented several Russian financial institutions, research and design institutes, engineering companies: Almazzolotkomplect, Lengidroproject, Aerogeofisica, Vneshtorgbank.
As part of the FILDA – 2004 program on July 13 ALROSA’s presentation for Angolan and foreign participants, mining specialists was held at the Alvalada Hotel. After the presentation a the company held a media conference.
The same week the ALROSA delegation made a tour of Catoca and the construction site of the hydroelectric power plant on the Chicapa River, had meetings with the Angolan deputy minister of geology and mines Samuel Tito Armando, minister of energy and water Botelho de Vasconselos and secretary general of Angola’s MPLA party Juliao Mateus Paolo ‘Dino Matross’.
According to the Russian charge d’affaires ad interim in Angola Igor Kapyrin, the participation of Russian companies in international industrial and trade fairs in Angola adds new momentum to the development of economic co-operation between our countries.
In the nomination of ‘Industry’s Best’ among the FILDA-2004 exhibitors ALROSA was awarded the Golden Lion the second time in two years.
