May 12, 2010, Moscow: COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (COMSTAR-UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading provider of integrated telecom solutions in Russia and the CIS, provided communications at the plenary meeting of the Collegium of the RF Ministry of Communications and Mass Media (Mincomsvyaz) and at the social projects booth and several events within business program of Sviaz/Expo Comm 2010.
Upon a request from Mincomsvyaz, COMSTAR-UTS established a dedicated link with the data rate of more than 100 Mbps and 30 external IP addresses as well as deployed a Wi-Fi network at the locations of official events of the Ministry.
In particular, COMSTAR-UTS provided technical support for a live webcasting of the exhibition opening ceremony on May 11 from the Ministry’s web site. Besides, the communication link and Wi-Fi access delivered by COMSTAR enabled demonstration of social projects such as the Federal Helpline “Children Online” and additional services “STREAM.Antivirus” of COMSTAR and “Parental Control” of MGTS at the special exposition called “World. Information. Communications” established under the auspices of Mincomsvyaz at Sviaz/Expo Comm 2010.
COMSTAR-UTS also provided communication channels and Wi-Fi access for the plenary meeting of the Ministry’s Collegium on May 12, 2010 where industry results for 2009 and objectives for 2010 were discussed. COMSTAR will also provide an Internet access for sessions of the Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF) which will take place on May 13-14 and for Mass Communications Council meetings.
COMSTAR also delivered broadband for the press center of the Ministry’s special exposition where the RF Minister for Communications and Mass Media Igor Shchegolev held a press conference.
The communication channel established by COMSTAR-UTS at the exhibition is linked to the next-generation transport network (NGN) owned by COMSTAR-UTS Group.
