On 28 May 2008 the Vedomosti and The St.Petersburg Times held the 4th Annual HR Forum at the Novotel hotel in St.-Petersburg. The focus of the forum was the main tendencies in personnel management.
Irina Tambovskaya, the Head of the Personnel department, OJSC NWT, gave a presentation on “Optimization of the structure of organization as a strategic change”.
She presented the results of the multilevel reorganization which took place at the OJSC North-West Telecom in 2001-2007 and allowed to create a powerful investment-attractive multiregional communication company which brought together 10 regional providers
In conclusion Irina Tambovskaya noted: “A large scale reorganization of the NWT was a powerful tool which increased the company efficiency, provided consistent branch structure and a shared system of management, and improved the staff competencies, which are one of the strategically most important assets of any organization".

The forum was attended by representatives of 130 major companies operating in St.-Petersburg and the North-West Federal District of Russia, including Ford Motor Company, Megafon, Vympelkom, MTS, Baltiyskiy Bank, CitFinance, Uralsib, Citibank, Heinz, Coca Cola, Khlebny Dom, Lenta, Baltika and others.
The participants learnt about the most advanced HR methods and procedures used in the leading companies and discussed such important HR-related issues as personnel development and retention, loyalty, non-material motivation, talent management and talent pool, internal PR etc.
