Gazprom’s delegation participates in 13th UNECE Gas Centre Conference

Molde (Norway) today hosted the 13th Annual Conference of the Gas Centre of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe dedicated to offshore natural gas production and the outlook for gas supplies to Europe.

Participating in the Conference were a Gazprom delegation led by Sergey Balashov, Deputy Head of the Company’s International Business Department as well as representatives of prominent gas production and transportation companies including Gaz de France, StatoilHydro, Botas, EGAS, Delta N.V., Essent N.V., ENI, GasTerra, National Grid, PGNIG, Plinacro Ltd., Romgaz, Sonatrach, Srbijagas, SPP.

In his speech Sergey Balashov underscored that due to consistent ramp-up of the resource base Gazprom secures reliable gas supplies both to the expanding domestic market and abroad pursuant to export contracts.

The UNECE Gas Centre was launched in January 1994 by the UNECE Working Party on Gas as part of the ECE Program “Promotion and Development of a Market-Based Gas Industry in Economies in Transition”. In 2005 the Task Force on Gas Company and Market Structure in the UNECE Member Countries was set up. Gazprom is a co-founder of the Centre comprising 25 leading European gas production, transmission and marketing companies including E.ON Ruhrgas, Wintershall Holding AG, Gaz de France, StatoilHydro, ENI, N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie, Shell, National Grid, Botas, Sonatrach and others.

Since 2006 the chairmanship in the Gas Centre has passed over to Gazprom. Stanislav Tsygankov, Head of Gazprom’s International Business Department was approved as Chairman of the UNECE Gas Centre Executive Board.
