JSC North-West Telecom has successfully completed a project for building the first stage of a protected corporate data-processing network (PCDPN). Connected to the central unit of PCDPN – a data processing centre of the ERP system based on Oracle e-Business Suite (DPC) – are local area networks of four branches – the Petersburg Telephone Network, Lensvyaz, Murmanelectrosvyaz, Electrosvyaz of the Republic of Karelia and of the Head Quarter of the Company.  

PCDPN is formed on the basis of the overlay dedicated network (VPN) using cryptographic routers and certified internetwork shielding facilities.  A part of local area networks of branches and their divisions is connected to PCDPN using trusted channels on the basis of NWT's fiber-optic communication lines.   The commissioning of the first stage of PCDPN allows access of users in branches and divisions of branches to DPC in the framework of the first wave of ERP deployment. In the future the entire traffic of corporate information systems will be passed in the framework of PCDPN.

The first stage of PCDPN has been designed and put into operation by the Open Technologies company, which is the general contractor in creating ERP for NWT. PCDPN was designed in compliance with the Unified Concept of Information Security of the Programme for the Introduction of a Unified System of Communication Enterprises Management on the basis of Oracle e-Business Suite. Information security of the central unit of PCDPN is ensured by a complex of information security facilities. The cryptographic routers used in PCDPN resort to domesatic algorithms of information ciphering, and the certifying centre of NWT's open keys infrastructure is used to ensure their functioning. The technological solutions used in creating PCDPN provide for a certain redundancy in respect of the volume of passed traffic taking into account that the operation of other NWT's centralized information systems, internal Web portals and other services is supported. 

PCDPN is put into operation taking into account the standard and methodological recommendations of FSTEK – the Federal Service for Engineering and Export Control (the State Engineering Committee of Russia), including the Special Requirements and Recommendations on Engineering Protection of Confidential Information that took effect in the communication industry based on the Order of the Ministry of Communication dated 20.05.2003 No. 62. The commissioning of PCDPN ensures the set standard of information security of the unified enterprise management system.
