A total of 41 company units will be visited by Lloyd's Register of Shipping, those include both management and production units.

During the recertifying audit Severstal will have to prove to the auditing company that it follows not only the requirements of an earlier set quality system, but the requirements of the more recent international ISO 9001:2000 standard. Severstal's Quality Management System was certified to the ISO 9002:94 standard in February 2000 following an audit, which was conducted by Lloyd's Register's auditing committee at the end of 1999. From the time of obtaining this certificate, its auditing committee had been following up with biannual audits. It has noted that Severstal's Quality Management System meets not only the requirements of earlier obtained standards, but is continually improving.

Prior to a recertifying audit on November 20, Lloyd's Register of Shipping assessors will conduct a certifying audit of quality management system at the Sheet Rolling Plant #3 in Kolpino (St. Petersburg) in order to see if it meets the requirements of the new version of an international standard. After purchasing of Mill 5000 in Spring 2000 Severstal had Lloyd's Register check rolling plant's quality management system for its compliance with international standards.
