MOSENERGO (TGC-3)

May 7, 2003

AO MOSENERGO Heating Grids complete the heating season and prepare for maintenance campaign

Due to the cold spring, the Moscow government switched off the heating this year somewhat later – on May 2 (last year – on April 25). In accordance with the approved schedule, the heating was switched off in half of the administrative buildings, industrial facilities and residential areas. However, in a number of buildings the heating was resumed due to the return of the cold weather. The heating at kindergartens, schools, and hospitals will be stopped last. Heating Grids are expected to switch to the summer mode starting May 13.

AO MOSENERGO supplies heat to GUP Mosgorteplo and GUP Teploremontnaladka, which provide heating to most Moscow consumers. Some heat is also provided by GUP Mosteploenergo, which has its own heating stations and grids.

Immediately after the end of the heating season AO MOSENERGO will start maintenance works on its heating grids. In accordance with the plan, in 2003, the company is expected to replace 78 km of pipe and lay more than 10 km of polyurethane-insulated pipe. The service life of these pipes extend to 25-30 years. During the maintenance period, Heating Grids will continue to replace seal compensators with bellow-type compensators, which help to prevent water leaks. This summer AO MOSENERGO will start the construction of three pump stations – Businovskaya, Filevskaya and Yasenevskaya. Along with the construction, the company will carry out maintenance on the existing pump stations. In 2003, Heating Grids plan to invest in construction and upgrades 3,854 million rubles.
