OJSC “TGC-9” branches are preparing for snowmelt flood period

Perm, 14.03.08. OJSC “TGC-9” enterprises in Perm Region have started to make arrangements to ensure continuous and reliable operation within the period of spring flooding.

 

In the course of a month they will examine and repair hydro-technical constructions and pump stations. Till April 10, they will strengthen dam faces, dams and banks in the places prone to undercutting, perform protection of pipe-line supports, prepare passes for snowmelt, and make an emergency stock of necessary materials. Duty personnel will pass special trainings. Totally it is planned to perform 190 events on snowmelt floods at all Perm power plants and heating networks. This year the water stock amount in snow cover of river basins is larger than the mean annual amount. According to the official data as of March 10, 2008, the water stock of the Kosva river basin makes 255mm or 123% verse the mean annual amount, or 108% in comparison to the amount of 2007. In connection with these facts, special attention will be paid to the organization of snowmelt passing system through the hydro-technical units of Shirokovsky water-storage basin (Shirokovskaya hydropower station), Gubakha dam (Kizelovskaya HPS–3). Additional measures will be taken at Nizhne-Zyryansk water-storage basin (Bereznikovskay HPP-10), which is located in the zone of probable Earth flash, caused by the accident at OJSC “Uralkaly’s” mine.

 

In order to prevent the flood, except for the basic events, it is planned to develop an order of filling the water-storage basins and the order of overflow water regulation subject to hydro-meteorological conditions. Within the flooding period duty specialists will operate 24 hours a day at these stations.

 

All preparatory works will be completed by the beginning of snowmelt flood period.
