It is not accidental that the motto of the 3rd International Exhibition "InfoCom-2003" is "The Infocommunications of Russia - XXI century". The forum represents on a wide footing both the latest achievements of the infocommunication technologies market and this country's telecommunications industry practical capabilities to implement the accomplishments most dynamically. The concerted effort of the scientists and up-to-date equipment and systems manufacturers, and the achievements of the lead telecom operators have become in high demand as much as ever within the implementation framework of the Federal Target Program "Electronic Russia", the largest-scale action plan over the last decade.
It is already confirmed by the business practice that the implementation of the Program helps significantly improve the quality of the economy management and the conduct of the state bodies and institutions activity, reduce the business process organization and management costs, grant an expeditious access to knowledge, raise the efficiency and quality of learning. The implementation of the "Electronic Russia" Program will enable to fundamentally transform virtually all areas of the life of the country and its citizens.
It is for the first time that JSC CenterTelecom, the Central Federal District's basic telecommunications operator taking an active part in the implementation of the "Electronic Russia" Federal Program, was represented as a merger company at an exhibition. At the "InfoCom-2003" event, the Company exhibited several exciting and promising projects. Numerous visitors of the Company's stand and specialists, in particular, took a tender interest in the "InfoCiti" project being developed by CenterTelecom jointly with the scientists of the University of Telecommunications and Informatics, Moscow. The portal equipped with an easy-to-operate system providing for a retrieval of information useful to any person in his/her every-day life, enables everyone to gain a needful reply in a promptest way even if he or she does not have a whit of computer knowledge.
In the other section of the Company's stand, a replica of the project providing for a practical comprehensive solution of furnishing the rural areas of the Central Federal District of Russia with efficacious information media facilities, is deployed. The packet of infocommunications services (telephony, 12 TV channels, reception of VHF programs, and quality high-speed access to Internet) is made available through a broadband multiservice network based on the interactive microwave television that is built in the Solnechnogorsk subregion in the Moscow Environs.
The Moscow Region Telecommunications Company, JSC CenterTelecom's affiliate, won an open tender purporting creation of a corporate network comprising all the organizational units of the Ministry of Taxes and Dues (MTD) of the Moscow Region. This year already, over 60 subregional operating branches of the Moscow Region MTD will be functioning integrated into this Ministry's corporate telecommunications network.
The CenterTelecom affiliate companies take an active part in the "Electronic Russia" program implementation too. Thus, the telemedicine solution has been applied with the aid of specific digital equipment in the hospitals in eight subregional localities of the Voronezh Region. The medical examination results are transmitted to the central hospital for precise diagnosis, and the best medical specialists carry out the telereception of patients on-line.
The electronic common office is yet another component part of the "Electronic Russia" program being implemented by the Company. Within the Ivanovo Region affiliate telecom company, for instance, such office is set up for the Ivanovo Region Branch of the RF Pension Fund. All the computations and creditings to the pensioners' accounts are performed on-line basing on the information technologies and up-to-date transport telecommunications environment.
On the second day of the event, business meetings of CenterTelecom specialists with their partners and colleagues took place, and a diversity of discussions with the leaders of domestic and foreign telecommunications firms and companies were held.
