Vladimir Akulich, General Manager of N.W.Telecom, was solemnly handed an honorary Diploma and the Peter the Great Medal "For Merits in Labor".

The motto of the medal is "For Self-Denying Labor for the Benefit of Russia." This public award is conferred on prominent citizens, talented and highly professional executives who successfully develop the social and economic potential of their companies, industries, and regions.

The national Peter the Great awards are conferred by a Resolution of the Russian Public Board, on whose list are prominent scientists and figures of culture, chief executives of companies, and representatives of public organizations and federal and regional governmental bodies. They are a public token of recognition of their winners' moral and business authority both in and outside this country.

This year, well-known statesmen and cultural workers, businessmen, and public figures became Laureates and Winners of Peter the Great awards. Among them are Oleg Basilashvili and Ramzan Kadyrov, Daniil Granin and Valentina Matvienko, Vladimir Shatalov and Alexey Miller.

The General Manager of North-West Telecom is the only Chief Executive of a company in the North-West of Russia to have received the Peter the Great Medal "For Merits in Labor" in 2007.
