LOMO

June 24, 2003

New home of spectral technique

The first batch of spectrophotometers SPH-56 was made and delivered to its consumer. These devices were made at a new dependent company of LOMO PLC - "LOMO-Specter" LTD.

"LOMO-Specter" LTD was registered on February 26, 2003. LOMO passes in new firm the production of the greatest part of its spectral goods - such instruments as devices of emission analysis, the part of monochromates, and above-mentioned spectrophotometer SPH-56.

Production of the rest part of products is passed to the second dependent organization, occupied with spectral technique - "LOMO-Photonika" LTD, also established on February this year. Specialists, taking part in designing and setting to the production line new spectral products of LOMO, are the basis of the firm's personnel. The output of the first batch of infrared analyzers "Spectran-119M" has been finishing already, the following instruments are new monochromates, two-beam spectrophotometers, complexes of checking means.

One more company, besides LOMO, took part in the creation of "LOMO-Specter" LTD. This is "OKB-Specter" PVT, which more than ten years is occupied with designing of technical and programming accompanying for devices of the St. Petersburg optical company, including spectral technique.

The nearest purposes of the new firm will become mastering of producing of existing products. Also it's necessary for "LOMO-Specter" LTD to get special licenses for producing of a range of products. SPH-56 is one of such devices. Surely the young organization is not going to stop on the achieved. Yakov Tumarkin - the general director of "LOMO-Specter" LTD said that after the mastering of producing of existing goods they would start designing of new ones with more high specifications. Nowadays their spectral devises by its quality don't give up to import analogues - some lagging behind exists only in the sphere of service and comfort in the exploitation.  They're intended to eliminate these disadvantages, saving traditional advantage of native technique - comparatively not high price.

This time there are several dependent venture companies, established by LOMO - "LOMO Laser" PVT, "LOMO-METEO" LTD, "LOMO-MedPac" LTD. LOMO is seeking for such organizational forms, which will increase effectiveness of the activity in traditional spheres of device designing, and also will further to the development of new directions of products. That's why creation of these firms was made.

On the opinion of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of LOMO Alexander Aronov "today creation of venture companies, coming into industrial group of LOMO, is one of the most perspective ways of development. Thanks to its compact size and narrow sphere of work such companies are characterized by high labour productivity. The establishment of such companies will allow LOMO to react rapidly on the demands of the market and reduce risks of the enterprise during mastering of new directions of activity."
